One of the many things Reagan understood is that Republicans can win elections if they present themselves as conservatives. The current effort by some California Republicans to find candidates for state-wide offices who appear moderate is doomed to fail. We simply cannot out-liberal liberals, nor should we try to. Conservative values will always carry the day, as Reagan's speech demonstrates.
